On April 26, 1986, the Chernobyl disaster occurred in Pripyat, northern Soviet Ukraine.

The catastrophic accident was caused by a flawed reactor and a series of misfiring events, resulting in what is still considered the worst nuclear power plant disaster in history.

In 2011, 25 years after the accident Chernobyl was officially declared a tourist attraction.

Italian photographer Eleonora Costi has a fetish for capturing creepy and abandoned sites. Last month, she visited Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant, almost 33 years after the disastrous incident.
