A new Queensland restaurant has taken away the tedious task of deciding on an entree, main and dessert by serving just a single dish to anyone who walks through the front door.

The new eatery, Lloyd’s General Store, launched in Brisbane this month fusing a Deli and small home-cooked style dining under one roof.

With just a limited number of plates each day, Lloyds serves up their dish of the day on a first come, first serve basis.

Liz Lloyd, and her husband James, said the concept of the restaurant is to create a small batch of servings to compliment their small dining space.

“The whole idea is to advertise on the website or on social media that I’ll be doing, say, risotto and there’ll be eight portions so come and get it,” Mrs Lloyd told theCourier Mail, noting that each day the dish will be different from lasagne to a wholesome salad or even a risotto.

“We want to take that farm-to-plate idea and offer people an organic approach where they know where their food is coming from,” she added, noting that while the quantity is small the quality is fresh with most produce sourced from her parents farm in Ipswitch.

“The whole idea is that anything you eat in store you can buy.”

The Lloyd’s had long hoped of converting the tiny space into a general store, after the tenancy had previously been leased out to a hairdresser, graphic-designer and even a florist before they snapped up the lease.

Now open as a providore, cafe and bar – the pair bake their own croissants each morning, while at night diners can choose from a handful of boutique, organic and biodynamic wines from France, Italy, Australia and New Zealand, as well as craft beers from Brisbane and the coast.
