Powerball: Ticket sold in Queensland scores player entire $40 million division one prize

An Australian couple says their working days are over after scoring all of Thursday’s $40 million Powerball draw.

The married pair, from Kenmore in Brisbane, held the only division one-winning ticket to the blockbuster jackpot — a QuickPick entry bought online.

Their PowerHit entry also scored division two 19 times, taking their total prize to $40,724,820.

“I’ve dreamt of this, but never imagined this happening to us,” the husband told The Lott.

“We’ll pay off the mortgage and set up the kids and family. As for work — we’re done.

“We were just saying the other day, ‘Isn’t there more to life than this?’, and now there is and we’re going to enjoy it to the full and make the most of it.”

The husband said he buys Powerball tickets “every now and then” as a treat.

“I’m stoked. I feel like crying,” he said.

The winning numbers for Powerball draw 1575 were 12, 27, 7, 18, 30, 11 and 34. The Powerball was 16.

One other Australian player will pocket $38,000 in division two after matching the seven winning numbers but not the powerball.

More than $11,600 will be dropping into the bank accounts of 81 players via division three.

Powerball will now be reset to $5 million for the July 30 draw.
