Recall issued for Mr Chen’s Szechuan Chilli Oil amid undeclared allergen

A recall has been issued for a chilli oil sold in a major supermarket nationwide after it was revealed it contained an undeclared allergen.

Mr Chen’s Szechuan Chilli Oil 250g has been available for sale at Woolworths nationally but food safety authorities have been told it may contain peanuts which was not alerted on the bottle.

The recall is in place for products with the best before dates of December 4, 2026, April 7, 2027 and December 11, 2027.

“Any consumers who have a peanut allergy or intolerance may have a reaction if the product is consumed,” Food Standards Australia New Zealand said in a statement.

“Consumers who have a peanut allergy or intolerance should not consume this product.

“Consumers should return the product(s) to the place of purchase for a full refund.

“Any consumers concerned about their health should seek medical advice”
