The MCG has fallen silent after a horrifying incident involving Melbourne forward Brody Mihocek in the King’s Birthday blockbuster against Collingwood.

Frampton immediately called for help and play was quickly stopped as medical staff rushed on to help Mihocek, who appeared to be convulsing.

“He’s in proper trouble. He’s convulsing. That’s no good,” Hamish McLachlan said on Seven.

“He was talking to Frampton – I kept my binoculars on, he was basically saying, ‘I’m no good here’.”

Brian Taylor added: “We’re shocked at that vision. Steven King and everyone at the MCG has just gone to a hush. It is just horrible. Both teams are stunned. As is the crowd.”

Taylor added that Frampton could be “shaken” by the incident, while Dale Thomas praised players from both sides.

“You could see the immediate care. And that is credit to all players who go out there and do it, because you do, you fight right on that line,” he said.

“But as soon as there’s an incident, immediately, there was no carry-on, it was part of a tackle, a big moment, a holding the ball decision, but instead of getting up, he was sitting there taking full care.”

Play was halted for just under 10 minutes as Mihocek was eventually taken from the field on a stretcher.

Players from both clubs went over to the much-loved player to wish him well.

He was then taken to hospital in an ambulance with a neck brace on.

Channel 7’s Tom Morris reported that Mihocek was moving his legs in a positive sign.

Collingwood superstar Nick Daicos paid tribute to Mihocek at half-time.

“Terrible. We love him. Everyone went over to him, which shows how much we love him. Hope he is OK and he is in our thoughts,” he told Channel 7.

Meanwhile, Collingwood veteran Brayden Maynard was also ruled out for the remainder of the match after dislocating his right shoulder twice in the first half.

Maynard first went off minutes into the match, but had his shoulder strapped up and was able to return.

But when it popped out again in the second quarter, he came off and was promptly ruled out.

More to come …
